Skin Elixir Self care skincare for menopause

As we go through menopause, skin also goes through a series of changes, including decreased production of collagen and elastin, leading to dryness, irritation, redness, dullness, and loss of elasticity.

When I founded Skin Elixir at 43 I was perimenopausal myself and made the decision to develop a number of Skin Elixir products, specifically formulated with 100% natural evidence based ingredients, to target these commonly felt skin concerns and provide the nourishment and hydration that skin needs during this phase in life.

You can read about these three products, the Super Natural Oil, Intensive Night Cream and the All Around Eyes Elixir on their individual product page.

You can read on to discover more about the individual ingredients and how they work wonders to support menopausal skin health.

 4. The Skin Elixir Red Light Therapy Facial Radiance Wand

Skin Elixir Red Light Therapy Facial Radiance Wand

Red light therapy has been shown to have several potential benefits for menopausal skin. My customers love the effects which are backed scientific evidence:

Stimulates Collagen Production

Red light therapy has been shown to stimulate the production of collagen in the skin. Collagen is essential for maintaining skin's elasticity and firmness, which as we know can become compromised during menopause due to a decrease in oestrogen levels. Several studies have demonstrated the ability of red light therapy to increase collagen production, leading to improvements in skin texture and firmness.

Reduces Wrinkles and Fine Lines

As a result of increased collagen production, red light therapy can help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines in menopausal skin. A study published in the Journal of Cosmetic and Laser Therapy found that participants who received red light therapy experienced significant reductions in wrinkle depth and severity.

Improves Skin Tone and Texture

Red light therapy has been shown to improve skin tone and texture by promoting cell regeneration and increasing blood flow to the skin. A study in the Journal of Clinical and Aesthetic Dermatology reported improvements in skin texture and overall appearance among menopausal women who underwent red light therapy treatments.

Enhances Wound Healing

Menopausal skin may be more prone to issues such as dryness and reduced healing ability. Red light therapy has been found to promote wound healing by increasing the production of fibroblasts, the cells responsible for repairing damaged tissue. This can be particularly beneficial for women during menopause who may experience slower healing of skin issues.

In summary, the scientific evidence points towards red light therapy being an effective and non-invasive option for improving the appearance and health of menopausal skin.
