Star Active Ingredients

Bakuchiol (2% in Day Oil, 2% Intensive Night Cream, 4% in Eye Elixir)

Nature's retinol alternative derived from the babchi plant. Clinical trials show up to 20% wrinkle reduction and 59% pigmentation improvement in 12 weeks. Bakuchiol stimulates collagen, reduces fine lines, evens skin tone, and improves firmness—without the irritation, dryness, or sun sensitivity of traditional retinol. Safe for daytime use, pregnancy, and sensitive skin. Perfect for all skin types seeking visible anti-ageing results.

Organic Raw Unrefined Shea Butter

Deeply nourishing and intensely moisturising. Rich in vitamins A, E, and F (essential fatty acids including linoleic acid and alpha-linolenic acid), shea butter creates a protective barrier that locks in moisture while supporting skin elasticity and healing. These essential fatty acids maintain the skin's moisture barrier, reduce inflammation, and support cell regeneration. Its raw, unrefined form retains maximum nutrients and skin-healing properties. Featured in my moisturisers and night cream for rich, lasting hydration. Perfect for dry, dehydrated, and mature skin seeking deep nourishment.

A note about natural variations: Because I use raw, unrefined shea butter, you may notice nuanced differences in colour and scent from batch to batch. This is the beautiful truth about natural ingredients—each harvest is unique, influenced by growing conditions, season, and terroir. Black Seed Oil (Nigella Sativa)

Cold-pressed protection for your moisture barrier. Rich in thymoquinone and essential fatty acids, black seed oil is a powerhouse anti-inflammatory that heals, repairs, and strengthens skin. It calms redness, balances oil production, and supports barrier repair. Featured in both my day and night oils for its protective and restorative properties. Ideal for acne-prone, reactive, combination, and sensitive skin.

Rosehip Seed Oil

Packed with vitamins A and C, rosehip oil brightens hyperpigmentation, fades scars, and deeply hydrates. Its lightweight texture absorbs quickly, leaving skin plump and radiant without greasiness. A key ingredient in Super Natural Day Oil for daytime repair and brightness.

Moringa Oil

Restorative, rejuvenating nourishment rich in antioxidants and vitamins. Moringa protects against environmental damage, repairs tired skin overnight, and delivers lasting hydration. Featured in both my day and night oils for its regenerative power.

Pomegranate Seed Oil

Rich in phytosterols and vitamin E to enhance elasticity, firmness, and skin renewal. This antioxidant-rich oil supports cell regeneration and protects against free radical damage. A cornerstone of Magnificent Night Oil for overnight repair.

Calendula Extract

Skin-soothing, anti-inflammatory comfort. Calendula calms redness, irritation, and sensitivity while promoting healing. Featured in my night oil to soothe and restore while you sleep. Perfect for reactive and sensitive skin.

Vitamin E (Tocopherol)

A powerful antioxidant that protects skin from free radical damage and environmental stress. Vitamin E supports skin healing, reduces inflammation, and helps preserve the freshness and potency of my natural formulations. Essential for maintaining healthy, resilient skin.

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

Important guidance for pregnant and breastfeeding customers:

While bakuchiol (nature's retinol alternative) and all my carrier oils are considered safe during pregnancy, my current product formulations contain essential oils that should be avoided or used with caution during pregnancy.

To err on the side of caution, I recommend avoiding Skin Elixir products during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Although the essential oils are used at safe, therapeutic dilution levels (1%) and all products are safety tested, pregnancy is a time when extra caution is advised. Some essential oils in my formulations—including clary sage, rosemary, basil, myrrh, cypress, and may chang—are not recommended during pregnancy as they may stimulate contractions, affect blood pressure, or influence hormones.

Essential Oils to Avoid During Pregnancy

The following essential oils are present in my current formulations and should be avoided during pregnancy:

  • Clary Sage – Can stimulate contractions (in Super Natural Oil, Intensive Night Cream)
  • Rosemary – Can affect blood pressure (in All Around Eyes Elixir)
  • Basil – Can stimulate menstruation (in Magnificent Night Oil)
  • Myrrh – Can stimulate uterus (in All Around Eyes Elixir)
  • Cypress – Caution in first trimester (in Super Natural Oil)
  • May Chang (Litsea Cubeba) – Should be avoided or used with caution (in Organic Frankincense & May Chang Moisturiser)

Pregnancy-safe alternatives: If you're pregnant or breastfeeding and would like to use natural skincare with bakuchiol, I'm happy to create a bespoke formulation without essential oils. Please contact me to discuss custom options.

After pregnancy: Once you've given birth and finished breastfeeding, you can safely resume using all Skin Elixir products. The essential oils that should be avoided during pregnancy are perfectly safe and beneficial for your skin at all other times.

Important: Always consult your doctor, midwife, or healthcare provider before using any skincare products during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.

Supporting Botanical Oils

I blend carefully selected plant oils to create synergistic formulas that work in harmony with your skin:

  • Hemp Seed Oil – Rich in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids in the ideal 3:1 ratio. Hemp oil deeply nourishes, reduces inflammation, and regulates oil production without clogging pores. Perfect for balancing combination skin and calming reactive, acne-prone skin.
  • Cucumber Seed Oil – Lightweight, fast-absorbing hydration packed with linoleic acid and phytosterols. Cucumber seed oil soothes, cools, and refines skin texture while tightening pores. Ideal for sensitive and oily skin types.
  • Jojoba Oil – Technically a liquid wax that mimics skin's natural sebum. Balances moisture without clogging pores. Non-comedogenic and suitable for all skin types.

My formulations include therapeutic essential oils chosen for both skin benefits and aromatherapy properties. Each product features a unique blend tailored to its purpose:

My formulas are completely free from:
