Skin Elixir Lux Sunscreen SPF 30

We are told on the daily how sunscreen is an essential part of any skincare routine, protecting our skin from harmful UV rays and preventing premature aging and sun damage. Tired of buying sunscreen and it being sticky, too thin and or chemical laden and with twins to consider it was high time that I created my own. Like you (I'm sure) I want to be applying ingredients which will protect skin and not harm or hinder!

There's no escaping the fact there's some common harmful ingredients found in skincare products these include parabens, formaldehyde, phthalates, sulfates, synthetic fragrances, and minerals which research links to various health concerns including hormone disruption, skin irritation, allergies, and even cancer. To substantiate this there's mounting evidence in the form of scientific studies and reports from reputable health organisations, and regulatory guidelines from organisations like the Environmental Working Group (EWG).

As aforementioned, many conventional sunscreens contain ingredients that can be harmful to both your skin and the environment. That's why I have decided to create my own non-nano zinc oxide sunscreen, which is made with natural and organic ingredients that are gentle on your skin and safe for the planet.

I am asked regularly if I will bring out a sunscreen. Well, I am about to test drive my Skin Elixir Sunscreen formula next week in Spain and will likely go to the lab later this year for a launch by next Spring if there's sufficient demand. I will as always, as part of pre launch, be asking customers to test trial and evaluate.

One of the key ingredients in my sunscreen is non-nano zinc oxide, a mineral that provides broad-spectrum protection against UVA and UVB rays without the use of harmful chemicals. This means that you can enjoy the sun's rays without worrying about damaging your skin or the environment. Additionally, zinc oxide is non-comedogenic, meaning it won't clog your pores or cause breakouts, making it perfect for all skin types and a beautiful addition to my facial skincare range.

Zinc oxide is considered a safe and effective ingredient in sunscreen for providing protection against both UVA and UVB rays. In my formula at 20% it offers around SPF 30. Non nano zinc oxide is a physical sunscreen agent that works by sitting on top of the skin to create a barrier and reflect the sun's rays. Importantly there is no scientific evidence to suggest that non nano zinc oxide is harmful to the skin and it's commonly recommended by dermatologists for those with sensitive skin or allergies to chemical sunscreen ingredients. Chemical sunscreen makes my skin itch as such I had been using 'Shade' sunscreen but I wanted something more luxurious that would work on both the face and body.

Organic shea butter is another star ingredient in my sunscreen, known for its moisturising and nourishing properties, shea butter helps to hydrate and protect your skin, leaving it feeling soft and smooth all day long. In addition, shea butter is rich in vitamins and antioxidants that help to promote healthy skin and combat signs of aging.

Natural astaxanthin is a powerful antioxidant that helps to protect your skin from free radical damage and reduce inflammation. Astaxanthin is known for its anti-aging benefits, helping to improve skin tone and texture and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Additionally, astaxanthin has been shown to protect against UV damage and improve overall skin health and the one I use is vegan friendly.

Rosehip seed oil is another key ingredient in my sunscreen, known for its hydrating and rejuvenating properties. Rosehip seed oil is rich in vitamins and essential fatty acids that help to nourish and repair the skin, promoting a youthful and glowing complexion. Additionally, rosehip seed oil has been shown to improve skin elasticity and reduce the appearance of scars and stretch marks.

Ylang ylang is a fragrant flower that not only adds a beautiful scent to my sunscreen but also has skin-soothing and calming properties. Ylang ylang helps to balance oil production, reduce inflammation, and promote a sense of relaxation and well-being. The addition of ylang ylang to my sunscreen makes it a luxurious and indulgent experience for both your skin and your senses.

Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that helps to protect your skin from free radical damage and improve overall skin health. Vitamin E also helps to hydrate and nourish the skin, promoting a youthful and radiant complexion. Additionally, vitamin E has been shown to reduce the appearance of scars and stretch marks, making it a great addition to any skincare product.

Before you ask my formula does not include coconut oil. While coconut oil has some natural sun protection properties due to its antioxidant content, it has a relatively low SPF factor. Also it has a moderately high comedogenic rating, meaning it can clog pores and potentially cause breakouts for some individuals (it did this for me during the early development days for Skin Elixir - my under eyes broke out in milia caused by clogged pores), and particularly those with sensitive or acne-prone skin.

Overall, my non-nano zinc oxide sunscreen will be the perfect choice for anyone looking for a safe, natural, and effective way to protect their skin from the sun. With my choice of ingredients you can rest assured that your skin is getting the best in luxury and possible care and will enhance your natural skin radiance and as ever is like all my products designed to truly 'nourish the skin you're in'.
